Not to mention Lassater originally wanted it to be cgi anyway, so let me just gather my sense, and look at this from a unbiased POV. But…the film hasn’t been made YET, and ok, maybe it WOULD be interesting to see an animated feature turned live action/cgi, especially in THIS case where it would definitely mimic real world things more than most childrens films remade this way. Obviously, and as I feel I have the right to be, and it’s sickening to me that this is happening. So now, not only are you destroying Toasters great message, but you’re destroying it as a film ENTIRELY? Ok, listen. And the 3rd movie…well let’s just pretend that doesn’t even exist, ok? Can we do that please? But the 2nd film not only introduced the worst downhill slope in quality I’ve ever seen a kids franchise make, but took my favorites (The Chipettes) along with them. The first film-I will admit-was TOLERABLE, but that’s the most you’re gonna get out of me. Chipmunks, not necessarily something with a message like Toaster has, but still a great classic franchise, was utterly destroyed by the new remakes for this generation. The people who remade Alvin & The Chipmunks. Waterman Entertainment co-executive produced the Alvin and the Chipmunks live-action/CGI movies. As long as the remake is tastefully done and not a travesty, then I’ll accept it I sup… I don’t think it’s true necessarily as a classic will always reach an audience if it’s good enough-as Toaster has proven itself to be over the last 25 years-but if it’s what gets new audiences in to experience a great film and a great message, then ok. But, I also understand how sometimes things need to be updated for a newer generation. Misery loves company.Īs I said in my previous post, if you turn out merchandise based on a film that is essentially against capitalism, you’re destroying the original integrity of that film to begin with. I know you don’t want to hear it, but I can’t be the only angry about this. While searching for a photo to go with my original post about this film, I sadly stumbled across the terrible news I am about to deliver to you.
MOVIES LIKE THE BRAVE LITTLE TOASTER MOVIE
Realistically, if one puts it into perspective this was not a huge item like, say, Aladdin, Little Mermaid, or other Disney classics so the lean-ness of the DVD is understandable.īottom line: if you have young children they will enjoy this movie AND it's one you will probably enjoy watching with them. The Brave Little Toaster & Meaning In Films Pt.

I would say it's "better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick" for myself.

Not much money was spent on it and it kind of shows. It's nice, but not very detailed or in depth. There is a bonus feature on the "making of" this and the other two Toaster movies. It's a minor quibble on my part and does not distract from the program itself. I know it was most likely a choice made for monetary reasons, but I wish Disney would have fixed that. It still has the slight wiggling motion the original video had. The reason I give it just a "good" rating is for the quality of the program itself. When I first bought this for my son on tape years ago, he wanted to see it over and over - it was that appealing. Very good story with nice tunes from Van Dyke Parks. Even though it predates Toy Story it has the same premise from a certain point of view. This feature will have one thinking differently about one's appliances in the same way Toy Story made one think differently about toys. Great kids cartoon that adults can enjoy also.
